At Sterlite, we have adopted a holistic approach in providing health care facilities to our employees and the nearby communities.
Through Work Safe Online (WSO) system, we are able to track the health of our employees. We also have a well equipped occupational health centre at our Tuticorin plant, with qualified Medical officer and supporting staff. Regular occupational health surveillance for all employees and contractors are conducted. Half-yearly check-ups are carried out for all employees as well as contractor laborers working at hazardous locations. We have also calculated The Body Mass Index (BMI) for all employees and dietician's inputs are being considered for a balanced diet for all employees based on the nature of their work. The Company has provided Medi-claim Policy for all the employees covering their family members as well.
Regular health and hygiene oriented training sessions are conducted for employees and their families by both in-house trainer personnel and external faculties, Further, HIV-AIDS Awareness sessions and tests were organised for all our employees twice last year. We have also carried out biological monitoring and workplace environmental exposure assessment study in association with the National Institute of Occupational Health (NIOH), Ahmedabad. Based on the recommendations of the study, we have developed an action plan which includes future health check-ups, periodical workplace environment assessments, diet change, exercises and other work-life balance activities.
